From Downtown Orlando, the Lake Nona Wave Hotel is about 25 minutes southeast and located in the heart of the brand-new Lake Nona Town Center currently under development.

Just outside the Lake Nona Wave Hotel is a 50,000 square-foot outdoor space designed for the exploration and discovery of a distinguished selection of sculptures from one of the world’s largest private art collections. This sculpture garden is an elegant and inviting canopy of verdant palms and fragrant flowers surround meandering walking paths through the garden’s signature sculpture collection featuring the works of acclaimed artists such as Fernando Botero, Philip Jackson, Henry Moore, and Enzo Plazzotta. The sculpture garden canopy is defined by nearly 300 hand-selected palm trees chosen for their unique features and arranged in waves of foliage as a nod to the curves of the state-of-the-art Lake Nona Wave Hotel rising overhead. In the evening, plan to visit the garden which comes to life with a coordinated orchestra of multi-hued lighting elements and special night-blooming flowers. The Lake Nona Wave Hotel boasts two world-class restaurants, with more on the way including a brand-new ultra-lounge. During my stay I enjoyed dining at both the Haven Kitchen and the Lake Nona Wave Hotel signature restaurant, Bacán. The Haven Kitchen features a sophisticated Mediterranean menu bringing a twist to traditional Florida flavors. The décor is light and airy with inviting and intimate spaces that ignites a celebratory atmosphere. The bar offers botanical inspired cocktails made my master mixologists. I highly recommend the Smoked and Grilled Chicken Wings with smoked paprika chimichurri; Branzino A La Plancha prepared with Peperonata, farro, hazelnut, olive, dill and buttermilk; and for dessert you absolutely must try the Carrot Cake – orange ginger panna cotta, pineapple, orange carrot vanilla sauce and a sour cream sorbet or the Cherry Clafouti made with Baked vanilla custard, morello cherries, lemon peel and white chocolate whipped ganache. For lunch you’ve got to sample the famous Haven Burger – prepared with Prime beef, smoked gouda, avocado, smoked bacon, tomato, dill and mustard aioli. For breakfast I enjoyed my usual eggs benedict on a toasted croissant, avocado, hollandaise and breakfast potatoes.
Over at Bacán I found an open and inviting kitchen serving up the many flavors of the Americas. This is definitely the place to impress your friends or celebrate a special occasion. The décor is elegant and refined with plenty of comfortable and intimate seating. The restaurant offers an exceptional wine list and the fare is just as spectacular. I started with the Smoked Scallops A La Plancha presented tableside with Caviar, beetroot tartare, cauliflower and yuca crisp. For my entrée I chose the 14oz New York Strip Loin Carne Asada served with hominy and pico, oregano, pickled mustard seed and smoked pepper sauce. For dessert you’ll have the hard decision of choosing between the Tres Leches Cake or the Banana Cream Tarte, or indulge as I did, with the Esfera De Chocolate or sphere of chocolate atop a decadent chocolate fondant cake, chocolate mole sauce and strawberry ice cream. The Lake Nona Wave Hotel is a 5-star epicurean delight.
