I’ve got some holiday news from Gaylord Palms to share with you this week.
Hi, I’m Richard The Orlando Guy.
The Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee invited me to a press preview looking behind-the-scenes at the making of ICE! Featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas opening at the Gaylord Palms on November 17th.
The day started with the formal introduction ceremony of the 40 Ice Artisans from Harbin China, along with a traditional Dragon Dance performed by Orlando’s Wah Lum Temple in the Plaza of the Resort.
Afterward we were given a sneak peek at the workings of the artisans as they skillfully create what will be a colorful world of Charles Shultz and his beloved animated classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Walking through the arctic 9 degrees of the ICE! Attraction, several scenes are beginning to take shape including the wall Charlie and Linus spend musing about Charle Brown’s ennui and despair around the holidays.
It takes 2 million pounds of colored ice to create this 20,000 square foot attraction.
In all, around 6,700 blocks of ice – each weighing 300 pounds will be carved to recreate the whimsical scenes of A Charlie Brown Christmas.
When it’s all done, THIS is what you’ll be treated to as you pass through several scenes from the animated classic.
The attraction will include everyone’s favorite Ice Slides, and as always, the attraction ends with a stunning display of the nativity in crystal clear ice!
But ICE! Featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas at Gaylord Palms is just the tip of the iceberg of activities to see and do at the resort this year.
Back are fan favorites, Gingerbread House Making, Cirque Spirit of Christmas show in the Plaza, Snow Tubing, Snowball Throwing, and so much more.
