Today I’m flying home to Orlando with a layover at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Airport and I thought I’d show you the brand new American Express Centurion Lounge located in Concourse E next to gate 11.
From the moment you walk in, you’ll see that things are different here. There are unique amenities to this lounge including outdoor terraces, a craft whiskey bar, custom art and design inspired by Atlanta’s reputation as “the city in the forest”, plus relaxing spaces to work and unwind.
After checking in I took the grand circle tour around the lounge and it’s huge! 26,000 square feet. The largest Centurion Lounge in the portfolio.
The Lounge is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and my visit was near the end of the day.
The centerpiece of the lounge is the 50-year old olive tree with hanging lights throughout the lounge, meant to evoke a sense of sitting under a forest canopy.
There are tons of spaces to sit and relax before heading to your gate. Some open, some intimate.
The Centurion Lounge boasts two terraces outside the main lounge, one outdoors with amazing views of the tarmac, but never cold even in the middle of winter.
The other is adjacent to the very first speakeasy and whiskey bar called The Reserve. This tranquil quiet space is mesmerizing, dark and perfect for relaxing with a cocktail.
The food options are based on a menu from Chef Deborah VanTrece I sampled the Black Eyed Pea Biryani, Za’atar Grilled Chicken Thighs with Green Tomato Chimichurri and Three Cheese Macaroni Bake and a bit of charcuterie. I skipped dessert but spoiler alert it’s Bananas Foster Banana Pudding.
That’s a look at the brand new American Express Centurion Lounge. Access to the lounge is limited to those members carrying The Centurion Card, Platinum Personal, Business or Corporate Card, and the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Card both personal and business.
It was time for my flight, so I headed to the plane train to return to Orlando. This is Richard The Orlando Guy, somewhere in the world!
