Bush – Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour

English band Bush have evolved over the decades, refining a sound that put a stylish spin on rock by combining a masterful knack for a pop hook with the emotive and often abstract lyricism of frontman Gavin Rossdale. Emerging during the grunge boom of the early ’90s, they became the first British band post-Nirvana to hit it big in America. Following the release of their breakthrough debut, 1994’s Sixteen Stone, they carried that international, multi-platinum success to greater heights with their chart-topping follow-up, Razorblade Suitcase. A hit on radio and MTV, the band rounded out their peak period of popularity with 1999’s experimental The Science of Things. By 2001, shake-ups to their founding lineup and the poor performance of Golden State led the group to disband; they would not return for almost a decade. In the meantime, Rossdale went on to form a new band and work on solo material, eventually kick-starting Bush again in 2010. They made their big comeback the following year with The Sea of Memories. They issued a pair of releases in the 2010s — 2014’s Man on the Run and 2017’s Black and White Rainbows — continuing into the 2020s with late-era highlights The Kingdom and The Art of Survival.

About Jerry Cantrell

Jerry Cantrell is best known as the chief songwriter, lead guitarist, and vocalist for legendary Seattle rockers Alice in Chains, who distinguished themselves in the ’90s grunge scene with their dark, heavy metal-forward sound. After the death of co-vocalist Layne Staley in 2002, Cantrell became the frontman, steering the group into the next decade and beyond. In addition to his work with AiC, Cantrell has navigated a successful solo career (Boggy Depot in 1998, Degradation Trip, Vols. 1 & 2 in 2002, and Brighten in 2021) and has contributed material to multiple film soundtracks.

About Candlebox

Seattle’s Candlebox emerged just as the early-’90s grunge scene was winding down. The band’s take on the genre diluted the punk and indie elements inherent in its original form and was more rooted in the bluesy, classic-style hard rock that grunge had ostensibly replaced. They found mainstream success in 1993 with the release of their eponymous debut album, which was certified quadruple platinum and included the hit singles “You” and “Far Behind.” The band issued two more records before ceasing operations in 2000 but re-formed six years later. Since then, Candlebox has remained both active and prolific, releasing well-received efforts like Into the Sun (2008), Disappearing in Airports (2016), and Wolves (2021) that show how the more challenging aspects of grunge can be ironed out and polished into a sound that mainstream rock radio can embrace without reservation. The group said farewell with their 2023 album The Long Goodbye.
